Born and raised in Houston, I know well the economic call to “Deregulate! Privatize! Deregulate! Privatize!” that came upon the state like a perverse new religion in the 70’s & 80’s and led directly to what’s happening now. Beware, America.

I agree that having a more robust back up fleet is a good idea. Or maybe connect to a market outside Texas. It's weird, to me, that Texas's power grid is so insular. Maybe it's a good thing - black outs didn't expand past state borders.

Also, typically the "bird choppers" get turned off and on on a regular basis, for the very purpose of protecting birds (okay, certain birds like eagles - nobody cares about starlings, apparently, not even the starlings themselves).

You shouldn’t text when you’re doing that out-of-body thing.

Our windmills are working up in Michigan and Iowa during the snowstorms. Texas oil, coal and windmill facilities aren't. Stop deregulating your industries and weather proof them. It'll save lives.

When I flew into Austin a few yesrs ago, my friend told me she paid extra to drive on a road that was privately owned. Another example of privatizing & profitting from public services.

I'm not sure when it started to happen ... but Ronald Reagan gave it a huge boost in 1980 ... and that's why right now ... the Electric Grid in Texas is failing ... they were allowed to do whatever brought in the most money ... and not what was best in the long term for Texas!

I can't believe you defend corporations that to make more profit for themselves, millions of people must suffer. You are one heinous individual.
