The profit motive should have no place in these three areas: 1) healthcare, 2)reporting the news, and 3)the defense industry. Our world would be an infinitely better place if in those three areas profit were removed from the equation.

4profit health care is good 4 competition, innovation, IF a non-profit PAYER has clout to keep greed in check eg Medicare system. MC does a great job of nixing over & double charges. 4profit insurance just goes along for the ride, I watched this in detail w/ both parents. Useless

You forgot Education, and Prisons.

Disagree on completely in terms of health care. The proven, effective methods of treatment need to be priced so low that they are ubiquitously available. There also needs to be a very expensive experimental “millionaire class” tier.

Why stop there? Why should anyone make a profit off any necessity?

Agreed. Add utilities to that list. (See Texas right now.)

We need to add to this list: banking, elections, and some utilities. Utilities would include common means of communication (YouTube, twitter, Facebook specifically ), plus water, electricity, sewers. I also agree with your list as well.

Profit rewards people for their work. It also gives incentive to innovate.
