The profit motive should have no place in these three areas: 1) healthcare, 2)reporting the news, and 3)the defense industry. Our world would be an infinitely better place if in those three areas profit were removed from the equation.

I walked out of a dentist office today after they told me how much I would need to pay out of pocket to fix/pull my messed up teeth. I’ve been walking around without a crown for almost a year and the infection is present. I can’t even afford to live, so why bother anymore.
The possibility of profit is an incentive that leads to better products and innovation. Doesn’t work in reporting the news. But works in the other two (to an extent, and not always)

@marwilliamson What if we got rid of the profit motive in every area considering the monetary system is antiquated and could be obsolete if we collectively realized that the scarcity of food, land, energy, and every other necessary resource is a lie perpetuated by those in power?

What about money in politics. If a person went in to office knowing they could not get rich, and their only job was to help the people? How much better off would we be? If they couldn't take money from corporate interests, and insurance, and the military industrial complex?

Healthcare is easy to solve. Make the hospitals have a price menu. Competition brings lower prices.
