I would say anything that has to do with human well-being and necessities of life should not have a profit motive. Things we all need should not be denied to any of us. People that are secure and free from need make better decisions and choices.

I agree with you 100%, but it seems the news is problematic. Wherever the money comes from will have an undue influence. Whether it is tax (state) money, individuals or corporations how can we curb bias? Even non-profits want to keep their jobs.

Better yet, remove profit motive from everything. Most profit is pointless exploitation beyond making enough to get by + a little extra. Everyone should make enough to satisfy their needs; billionaires should be abolished, wealth should be capped at 50 million.

Totally agree. Shareholders should not make profit off of basic human needs, truthful information to the public and defense (and prison system). They should be compensated for their extra work and creativity for innovation, but not shareholder profits.
