We’re phasing out of an entire chapter of our history, simultaneously giving birth to a new one. What lies before us isn’t predetermined; it will be the result of our collective decision-making as we choose between increasing authoritarianism and a repaired and rebuilt democracy.

Is that what the Abolitionists said? Is that what the Suffragettes said? Is that what the Civil Rights workers said? They probably did say that at times actually but would then say something like this: “We have to hold each other up and do this for our great great grandchildren.”

Agree. But it gets more confusing when woke authoritarianism is mixed in with liberal-progressive initiatives, infecting the brew, pulling us in different directions, and supplying ammunition to the fascist right.
