It’s outrageous the way we’re treating our teachers as though their health is expendable and their fear illegitimate. This is the legacy of a misogynistic paradigm where the needs of women and children have been deemed secondary for centuries and longer.

Biden said schools could open IF done safely. Important difference to your message.

“If done safely” is good & “done safely” should be defined by what makes teachers feel safe. A vague promise with no specificity is not enough. The president was quite far away from Nora O’Donnell in that picture & for good reason; everyone working in America should be that safe.

Ruining children’s education..very few are excelling with online learning. Why don’t we use the “science” ( you all love to throw that term around) and get back to life. 99% survival rate

I hear you Marianne - what’s the science you feel makes opening schools unsafe - I want to be able to inform others.

What you’re saying is a lie on its face. There is no misogynistic paradigm. Also the CDC came out last week and said that there is no reason schools should be closed. All it’s doing is destroying our children’s education.

Teachers are frontline workers like nurses and doctors and elder-care. Children need to go to chool and schools can provide the necessary safety precautions. They should get a decent and proper salary.

'Agree w/your general point (as evidenced also by how we underpay those whose role is so critical to securing a bright future for our kids). But I dispute any implication that @POTUS, in raising the urgency of getting kids back to school, belittles the import of teacher safety.
