The collective resources of a country should belong to its people. The public treasury should not just be a slush fund for the rich.

Might want to tell the US military industrial complex that since they have a habit of collapsing countries and extracting/stealing the resources of Black and Brown countries around the world. The GOv's policy at home is a result of its murderous and kleptocratic one abroad.

Marianne, you are SO CLOSE. Read (or re-read) Imperialism, the Highest Stage of Capitalism to see why it is not this way. Review *which* governments tried to follow these principles of public ownership (i.e. Guatemala, Iran) - and *who* stopped them.
