A most dangerous illusion is the myth of neutrality: “I’m not trying to help anyone but I’m not trying to hurt anyone either.” If we’re not trying to make the world a better place then we’re contributing to make it worse.

The only real way that most people are even capable of making the world a better place is to make themselves a better person, but that is hard, so most people pretend to save the world so that they don’t have to do what they are actually capable of doing to be a better person

Surely applying the same logic leads to "If we're not trying to make the world a worse place then we're contributing to make it better".
Not everything is black and white, there are permutations. Blanket statements don’t help.

often these are the most dangerous people.... who have no morals... who play everything to their advantage... who never take a side.... who coast through life.... As we just, recently saw demonstrated in US poli.
