I feel that companies viewed the pandemic as a good excuse to shed older and/or underperforming workers. Wouldn't doubt it provided an excellent opportunity for race/identity discrimination, too.

And can we be real, we should just say instead of shareholders, use "themselves" too? The majority of CEOs get packages with huge amounts of stock options so really, they're enriching themselves.when they do this. Pretty sure stock buybacks are market manipulation too. #justsayin
