Blame the education system for the lack of a democratic society is like blaming the medical system for a lack of healthy food choices. Stop Blaming education and teachers. We teach all of these subjects and nutrition. Kids still eat hot Cheetos. It takes a village to raise people
And maybe it wasn’t such a good idea that it took this long for establishment Democrats to even talk about it. Producing generation after generation of American children who weren’t even taught the basics of American civics, ideals or government could only have ended in disaster.

No one is blaming teachers. It was the concentration on STEM that was achieved at the expense of the humanities, culture and history. Teachers routinely complained but school boards were not always listening.
