And maybe it wasn’t such a good idea that it took this long for establishment Democrats to even talk about it. Producing generation after generation of American children who weren’t even taught the basics of American civics, ideals or government could only have ended in disaster.

Many talked about it - particularly teachers - but few in power gave it the serious attention it should have received. Issues regarding children are routinely peripheralized. Current events are helping to awaken us and hopefully that will change.
