In a country where even before the pandemic 40% of Americans could not afford a $400 unexpected expenditure, how do our esteemed elected officials assume people are surviving?

They figure we got a payday loan for the 1400 that we were told is coming at 227% interest.

I wonder how many people have completely exhausted their savings in the past year and are now ruined. I can only assume that was the plan.

The destruction of the middle class is a democrat priority. Mission almost complete.

What we need now are more elected officials with the heart, decency, and genuine compassion of Marianne Williamson. May they follow her lead...

They know many people aren't surviving. It's part of the plan.

Esteemed elected officials? Their assumption does not appear to extend beyond self preservation and they even appear to be doing a lousy job at that.

That's a very wildly misused statistic based on a survey. The conclusions of the survey weren't that 40% couldn't weather such an unexpected expenditure, but simply that they wouldn't have $400 in cash at any moment, but most would have access to means to pay for it.
