1/ You can’t be a capitalist if you don’t have any capital. People who have been consistently and routinely kicked out of a system that distributes capital unfairly have an understandable resentment of how that system is played.

2/ It is totally understandable why tens of millions of American young people would say “What has global capitalism ever done for me?” They figure “What is it about socialism that should scare me? The free healthcare or the free college?”

3/ Everything happening is part of a Great Correction, messy & painful but needed. GameStop was a shot across the bow. American capitalism will claim an ethical center & the US government will insist on it with appropriate regulations or the tower is going to fall #LetThePeopleIn

The conservatives have been unwittingly selling socialism to the young; " Oh we don't want national healthcare (etc.), That's socialism". Young people; "Hey, this socialism stuff sounds pretty good, why aren't we doing that?"

Generationally, Boomers benefited from capitalism. Gen X and Millennials suffered under it, but were blamed for our failures. Zoomers, children of Xers, have not only suffered under the system, but so have their parents, so there is no wonder over Z's antipathy to the system.

"Free healthcare" and "free college" are not actually "free". Someone has to pay for them.

And I ask the millions of young people, what have they done for global capitalism? I’ll have to break it to them, socialism is no more the answer than capitalism. It’s a blend of both and in order to do that we have to stop slinging anger and start seeing things as they are.

Young Americans have never experienced an equitable and thriving US economy. No wonder they hate capitalism. It fucked them.
