I support teachers. No teacher should have to go back to the classroom who doesn't feel they've received everything they need - from plexiglass around desks to a vaccination if they want one - to ensure their safety and the safety of their students. #TeachersFirst

I wish you would care about the mental health of the children as well and recognize they need to be with their peers in a social setting

but what about the kids? what about science? health experts say it can be done safely. if we invest in improvements in ventilation systems and and universal mask wearing it can be safe for teachers and students. and kids at home are severely struggling socially/academically

Look at the response right above yours. We're getting a lot of conflicting information on this. Not saying I know which is true, by the way. All of it is filled with difficult decisions.

I agree! Also, no EMTs, firefighters, nurses or doctors should have to work until its 100% safe. Oh, also, delivery drivers, grocery store workers, public transit workers and self-help gurus. Zero risk! That's the ticket!

Teachers are essential workers. Yes, they should have the necessary PPE & be next in line for the vaccine, but education is first about the students. Our school system offered parents & students the choice between in-person or virtual, teachers should have that option, too.

Teachers must get everything they "feel" they need? That is not science based. #ScienceMatters

Chicago public school are closed but it's 200+ private catholic schools opened last fall w virtually no issues. They spent wisely on basic enhancements. No mass testing, no overpriced ventilation systems. Just common sense protocols. #OpenTheSchools
