Today @POTUS is signing an executive action directing Dept of Justice not to renew any contracts with private prisons. Important move. I hope to hear the expansion of this order to ICE and all immigration detention centers soon.

I hope/expect that @POTUS will live up to the Biden/Sanders Task Force commitments @marwilliamson I will be acknowledging progress & holding the admin accountable if it does not deliver. This seems a good way to help him to become the president we need. #100DayGracePeriod

This is a very big deal. Private prisons are a huge cog in the Prison Industrial Complex, which has destroyed life for Black and Brown people for decades. This is the continuation of slavery in America. amazon.com/New-Jim-Crow-Inca…

Absolutely! What we’re talking about is how far they take it. The “prison-industrial complex” is a scourge that needs to end and this is a good beginning.
