1/ The difference between race-based policies and reparations Is that reparations contain an inherent mea culpa. They’re recognition of a wrong that was done, a debt that is owed and the willingness on the part of a people to pay it.

2/ Germany has paid $89 billion in reparations to Jewish organizations. It doesn’t mean that the Holocaust didn’t happen, but it has gone far toward establishing emotional and psychological reconciliation between Germany and the Jews of Europe.

3/ Almost 250 yrs of slavery followed by almost 100 more yrs of institutionalized violence against Black people in the American South. If you’ve been kicking someone to the ground for almost 350 years, you owe more than to stop kicking; you owe it to them to help them get back up

4/ I don’t think the average American is a racist but rather is woefully undereducated about the history of race in the US. I saw over & over, in the whitest states, how once people heard a thumbnail sketch of our racial history from 1619 to today, they applauded #ReparationsNow.

Yes! The systems now keep ADOS under the white poor. By paying the debt owed to ADOS, poor white ppl - working class will rise up & make the changes in this gov’t disrupting corruption and greed. ADOS will be right there with us. The economy, stimulated, we’ll be better people.

When I heard Baldwins full speech. Ripped my heart out. This is where I don't understand my own community as a Christian we believe if someone is harmed by our actions we are to ask for forgiveness & make it right. But...they chose Trump. 😥 youtube.com/watch?v=lnLnfkS-…

2/3 the ones actions. I work as a victims advocate & they operate like a perp. And for the last 12 years Americans have been harmed ( or abused ) by such bad legislation its considered normal. But there is nothing normal w/standing silent while 400,00 americans die

3/3 R Leaders in and out of office have diminished the value of fruitful discourse, and compromise for the common good in legislation, that even those that votre them into office don't see it. And it is such a violation of public trust. Rank Power

Yes. Reverend Al Sharpton said it beautifully when he described the conditions over the years for black people, in his eulogy at George Floyd’s funeral. His message in the end was “get your knee off our neck! “ They deserve reparations! youtube.com/p6XffaKILcU

It's not much to ask for either.
