I disagree with the amount. It would make more sense to allocate funds based on regional guidelines that are already in place, such as those used for housing choice voucher and cash assistance guidelines. How it is currently being dispersed is divisive and irresponsible.

The spending Bill approved in December included $1.4 billion for the border wall. So if Biden is abandoning that - there’s that money. In regard to the monthly $2000, unemployment was boosted $600 per week until July. But then everything went south.

Given how much the US spent on bombing and terrorising the Middle East after 9/11 you’d think they would spend money on their own people given almost 2000x as many have died so far.

Seriously though, what basis for the amount? The reason people keep getting jerked about on this is because the amount is arbitrary and not tied to anything, so it can be played with easily. 1200, 600, 2000, 1400; ultimately they mean nothing. % of something consistent is needed.
