Kropotkin was writing about “social physiology” in 1892. Murray Bookchin started writing about “social ecology” in the mid 1960s. So why are we still listening to economists who start their models with production and capital investments? Why not start with “What do we need?”

The problem is, if we start from “what do we need?” then you don’t have things like enforced scarcity and planned obsolescence forcing people to buy things they don’t need. It would require cooperation in place of competition and putting need before greed.
