How can anyone think this would not be a good idea?
Under Bernie's Make Billionaire's Pay Act, Jeff Bezos would owe $52 billion more in taxes and would still be $35 billion richer than he was before the pandemic. And that bill would raise enough revenue to cover all out-of-pocket healthcare costs of the American people this year.

Good to tax Bezos to reduce inequality and power, but we don’t need his money to pay for healthcare. Money is a public good that can be spent into creation when Congress chooses to spend on healthcare. Would you be interested in learning more ? Lots of MMT resources out there.

Democracy is eroded. Corporations own everything. They control communication... water supply... and more. It should frighten everyone.

Of course the idea is correct. That is not the question. The question is who owns Congress?

Tax Increases are never popular, and selecting a group as a target does seem unfair. Sure, some business are better run and were able to make more money, but a purely confiscatory tax is essentially un-American.

Just because his gross wealth is a certain amount doesn’t necessarily mean it can be taxed higher. A person may have a net worth of 1 billion but his annual income could be 100k. Poor analogy.

And what about next year? Meaningless analogies.

I don’t know, I wholeheartedly agree, no fracking way would Bernie advocate for this.
