It’s not too much to ask that we give one day to the cause of national reconciliation - a cease-fire of sorts - so we can regroup, purify our hearts of the toxicity of the last 4 years, forgive where we can, and realign ourselves with who we need to be to take on the work ahead.

Absolutely. To me, forgiveness is choosing to let go of the weight that negative feelings put on your soul. It's a choice to move on and take control of your life instead of dwelling on the past. It is not forgetting the lessons you've learned or excusing what was wrong.
