It’s not too much to ask that we give one day to the cause of national reconciliation - a cease-fire of sorts - so we can regroup, purify our hearts of the toxicity of the last 4 years, forgive where we can, and realign ourselves with who we need to be to take on the work ahead.

We should ask the people of Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, and Syria if it’s been just the last four years that have been toxic. How do the politics of love actually work? Do we paint rainbows and unicorns on our bombs?

You don't want Unity. You want conformity.

Medical bankruptcies don't take the day off, people still can't afford their insulin, and insurance claims are still being rejected There is no rest for the exploited

Nope. I spent years fighting the system. I won’t stop just because an evil was replaced by an evil.

You left out the part where you ask the people you demonized for four years for forgiveness.

Can the people currently crushed under medical debt, out of a job and unable to feed their families, or about to lose or have already lost their homes and even loved ones to "business as usual" have a day off? The way I see it, they all need a day off first. Much more, even.

Absolutely not, for too long people have kicked the can down the road by using forgiveness and reconciliation as a manipulating tool to get away with their abuse and crimes. No they need to understand they hell they put us through and pay for their actions. Then we can forgive
