1/ Having come this close to losing our democracy, millions of more people now realize how important it is that we have one - however imperfect and bedraggled it is.

2/ We didn’t come so close to the cliff because of just one man; we came so close because We the People took our eyes off the ball, too many of us allowing the musculature of vital citizenship to whither while we were off doing other things.

3/ It was a painful awakening but a necessary one. As long as we remain alert, as long as we don’t go back to sleep, as long as we refuse to ever again farm out our democracy to those unworthy of our trust, then the future will be much better than the past.

Trump was elected by 65+ million people and 75+ million voted for him the second time. When you people say this, specify that you don’t care about half the country and you’re only talking to the liberal, privileged liberals. Trump was elected due to the lies of people like Biden

Biden won more than 80 million votes; the majority of his voters were not privileged & many were not even liberal. I can care about people & still not agree with them. But I do agree with you that Trump was elected because of neo-liberal lies that came from both political parties

If you care about and love people you disagree with, you don't vote to force them to do what you want. THIS is the wake-up that hasn't happened yet.

Biden didn’t get 80 million votes. But that’s a different story. Biden’s base is made up of Hollywood, academia, the corporate press, the military industrial complex, big banks, all who relentless mock and dehumanize people on the right. Your last sentence is spot on
