I hope the next big announcement Biden makes will center on race. His early pronouncements signal priorities and now that he’s talked about Covid and the economy, issues of racial inequality should be next. If ever there was an area where small steps is not enough, it’s this one.

What I would propose is reparations, but I don’t expect Biden to do that. He could start by saying that his administration is going to tackle three major areas of systemic racism: mass incarceration and the criminal justice system, economic disparity, and police brutality.

It will be good for him to undo some of the damage caused by his crime bill. Marijuana legalization has passed the house, the democratic senate will make it a priority if he gets behind it. Trump’s “First Step” program is good at freeing non-violent & the wrongfully incarcerated
