And poverty is a public policy choice. We've "chosen" to subject innocent people to it, and we can choose to end it for everyone. It's primitive and brutal and obsolete, and it's immoral to allow its existence.
Poverty isn’t just financial hardship; it’s psychological & emotional trauma that increases the probability of violence, addiction & even death by despair. It’s a petri dish out of which emerges the worst kinds of societal dysfunction. Our goal should be its complete eradication.
