Poverty isn’t just financial hardship; it’s psychological & emotional trauma that increases the probability of violence, addiction & even death by despair. It’s a petri dish out of which emerges the worst kinds of societal dysfunction. Our goal should be its complete eradication.

Poverty robs us of our most precious gift - time. It ages us and makes us unwell. It very literally robs us of time. And don’t get me started on “quality time!” We are people, this is our lives. This shouldn’t be a debate.

Being a US citizen should mean starting out w/ basics: Universal Healthcare, UBI, Housing, Free Public Education (PreK-College), Universal Childcare, Adequate Social Security, Mental Healthcare, a living wage, public transport, High Speed Internet Access. A path to citizenship

and in that vein, the cycle and spectre of poverty begins anew and suffocating each day
And, on the flip side, obscene amounts of mostly ill-gotten capitalistic gains, especially those passed on to sociopathic descendants, are too "a petri dish out of which emerges the worst kinds of societal dysfunction." We need more balance.
