Incoming @JoeBiden administration people on TV & social media tonight were practically giddy talking about a one-time $1400 payment & how they’re cutting child poverty in half. I don’t think these guys are reading the room.

I don’t think you’re reading the room, Marianne. The man hasn’t even taken office yet. A week ago, we ensured a horrific coup attempt. Please let us breathe before unleashing the latest stream of anger. You think you’re helping, but you’re not.

Way to support someone trying to help.

Replying to @marwilliamson
I’m guessing he’s implementing solutions in a small, bite size , stepwise fashion. The alternative would be one huge ‘grand design’ of a bill which would never succeed. @JoeBiden might not have been the perfect choice for progressives but can you imagine 4 more years of Trump?

It’s like they want another insurrection

Two reactions to this, Marianne: First, I agree with you. Second, I am terrified the Democrats/progressive people will not take a single beat before undermining any and all efforts to repair this nation. This is the time to 'harness love' & urge constructively.

We are in the middle of a pandemic and am economic crisis. Millions unemployed. Biden is playing semantics with dollar amounts - that’s fucking violence and abuse. If he were breaking a promise over renaming confederate namesakes, that would be different. This is very very cruel

I'm unironically okay with trading $600 for a $15 federal minimum wage.

Right? How is reducing poverty by 30-40% something to talk about or be proud of? We have the means to end poverty. They are consciously choosing to keep 60-70% of people in poverty through their policies. This is archaic.

We just got a measly $600, $1400 would make me giddy.
