No $1,400 is not $2,000, and a one-time payment is not enough. Payments need to be monthly to make a real difference going forward.

for that matter, even at 2,000 for the third round of checks, that still only puts us part way into June of last year for direct relief.

Contrary to popular belief money does not grow on trees. Monthly payments would costs trillions and trillions of dollars. How exactly do we pay for that? Money needs to be funneled through unemployment increases and reduced hour claims to help those most in need most efficiently.

People making minimum wage do not make $2000 per month unless they work a ton of overtime. A monthly benefit would change lives.
