We need to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine & repeal the Telecommunications Act. There will be a new prez in a week and we shouldn’t just wait to see what he will do; we should think about what it is we want. The American people have gotten into the habit of asking for too little.

We need to include social media as well. The fairness doctrine really didn’t have to address that because it didn’t exist.

Assuming that would survive constitutional scrutiny (I have my doubts given the way things have developed), how much would that actually do to fix the problem you perceive? That leaves the vast majority of where people get their news and editorial opinions from untouched.

That’s true in terms of the Internet. It’s a complicated subject and I’m not saying it’s cut and dry. But I’m saying it’s a reasonable place to start, and when you’re talking about things like the OAN and Newsmax networks then absolutely it’s significant.
