The militarism that has become such a key factor in American foreign policy is a causal factor in the militaristic vibe & behavior of our domestic police. There will no fundamental correction of our police brutality issue if we refuse to address this link.

That's what I've been saying. It's a vicious cycle, can also throw our gun violence stats in there.

Step 1) expand the police to include officers without weapons Step 2) to carry a weapon, officers need to be certified and licensed Step 3) any situation that requires more than a pistol, you call the actual military. Step 4) train the unarmed officers as humanitarians

Also, the best thing for the world would be to change the "military industrial complex" into the "military healthcare complex." The US military should export healthcare, physicians, nurses, and medicine. Some day, when I'm president, that's what will happen.

This link is so obvious ... most Police are "want-a-be" Army Rangers or Special Forces ... I persoanally think they all need to be replaced with non-mililtary, college graduates ... trained in conflict resolution and medicine ...

LE has allowed this to foment via hiding criminality & extremist behaviors behind disciplinary actions & internal investigations. This must end.

I agree. Can you please call for the elimination of the drone warfare program and use the five billion dollars to support more community health centers?

I discussed this with the republican nominee for local sheriff. Stated outright he would hire almost completely based on military experience. Said 80% of the current force were former military.
Good idea, but are you not aware that US mayors are paying for foreign ex-military to train our local police to treat in techniques like the knee hold & the attitude that American citizens should be treated like a conquered military province? You can't have it both ways.
