Defense contractors have such a hold on American military policy that an element of war profiteering is laced into the way we function. We need a movement for peace that is equivalent to the environmental movement. The Right is okay with what is & the Left has basically given up.

We have such a war economy that $.53 of every $ spent is defense related. But money spent on education & infrastructure is actually a more lucrative investment & defense jobs could be re-purposed for peace-related activities. We need to move from a war economy to a peace economy

Why do we have a $760B defense budget while some of our schools don’t even have school supplies & people lack healthcare? In part because we spend hundreds of billions of dollars every year above & beyond what the Pentagon even says it needs. This has nothing to do with security!

You get labeled “anti soldier” when you start talking defense budget cuts. I have a solider in the family. The amount he has been paid for his service is criminally low. The mental health care provided by the military is “don’t tell we don’t care” and ignoring suicides.
