This was not a real threat, as you call it. If they had been armed, the Capitol would still be burning. While disgusting, you are making it sound worse than it really was.

We are paying 49.8 billion for homeland security this year. So the question remains... Where exactly was the Department Of Homeland Security during the invasion of our U.S. Congress?

I feel like this story is incoherent next to @kenklippenstein's reporting for The Nation. His story paints a much clearer and more coherent picture. Or stories plural I should say since his reporting warned us of something like this 6 or 7 months ago.

Abolishing the DHS and defunding police is not the answer. Biden needs to hire good people again and get rid of all the tRump loyalists. The DHS is an important part of government more than ever. Those who allowed this lax security need to be held accountable.

Homeland Security needs better staff running it. Now they need people who believe we have domestic terrorism and deal with them. Homeland Security is run by Trumpers right now.

DHS was created under the Bush/Cheney regime, after 9/11 &using 9/11 as an excuse to reorganize the government & cabinet positions. Eliminating numerous cabinet positions that required Senate confirmation, &wrapping all those budgets under DHS, so it's harder to know where $ goes
