In 1949 Congress passed the Fairness Doctrine requiring broadcast licensees give "honest, equitable & balanced" coverage of news. Seeking to deregulate all business enterprise, Reagan ended it in 1987. We need to reinstate it & include tech platforms! #ReinstateFairnessDoctrine

In college, I did my major speech class presentation over The Fairness Doctrine. My dad founded and ran two Christian radio stations, so I was against it. I got an A, but the professor MUST have been gracious because there’s no way my reasoning was sound.

Many of the regulatory standards have been removed, from many sectors. While we're at it, repeal the banking deregulations, the corporate tax exemptions, and the patriot act. #ReinstateFairnessDoctrine #RepealAbusesOfPower #RepealThreatsToFreedom #RepealBankingExemptions

This is a fascist idea that was thankfully destroyed once platforms arose that didnt have to be auctioned off by the government. To return to this in the present environment would be madness.
