In 1949 Congress passed the Fairness Doctrine requiring broadcast licensees give "honest, equitable & balanced" coverage of news. Seeking to deregulate all business enterprise, Reagan ended it in 1987. We need to reinstate it & include tech platforms! #ReinstateFairnessDoctrine

Wasn't aware of that but that's when you started seeing the rise of radical right wing media and the beginning of entertainment as information in news. Of course it wont mean anything as the media is corporate owned & have permanent conflict of interest.

And...Bill Clinton signed the 1996 Telecommunications Act removing conflict of interest restrictions on all major media ownership which created media monopolies.
