Today we faced an unprecedented assault on our Capitol, our Constitution, and our country.   The assault was fueled by more than four years of poison politics spreading deliberate misinformation, sowing distrust in our system, and pitting Americans against one another.

Respectfully, why haven’t you been saying this for the last 4 years? I know there’s a tradition of ex-presidents saying nothing but this was a national emergency, anyone could see it would lead to this, and our former presidents remaining so quiet was a betrayal of the people.

If you haven’t noticed Pres Clinton’s words mean nothing to trumpets. Put it where it belongs, on the @GOP

Disagree. He's a private citizen now. Those still in office should have been speaking up and keeping him in "check". Also the media who swept his nonsense under the rug for 4 years

Marianne this is why Democratic candidates lose. We should be together now and try to fix things. Putting blame on what happens will not fix the problem. We need unity, strength, from all democrats to make positive change for our country. We are the party of governance.

America has meddled with peace of so many democracies for the longest time and they have gotten away with it, its time they had a taste of their own medicine, let the violence begin

They knew they were dealing with a psychopath. Do you remember what happened when Hillary warned us all exactly what he’d do? Nothing happened. Don’t be so sure they haven’t been in daily meetings, trying to predict and prepare for what he might do.

He has spoken. The media has been consumed by every hideous obscene move and utterance of 45. Daily. Minute by minute. 4 yrs. Do you know that Japan is in Covid lockdown? Great Britain is employing strident tactics to quell anti- lockdown factions? No? Right. Why? Trump.

Perhaps what happened yesterday will change the way things are done in the US. The country’s democracy must be protected against another president like Trump in the future.

No they spoke up and they also heard the same things we’ve heard for 4 years - this is not a surprise or anyone’s fault except the Current sitting president

@marwilliamson, I think @BillClinton has done more than his share to defend the democracy of our Great Nation, many of those years when your primary concern was peddling self-help books I might add.
