1/ The reason extreme income inequality is so viscerally repulsive to me is because I’m old enough to remember the time - before 1980 - when it wasn’t this way. It all started with the Reagan tax cuts and Reaganomics in 1980.

2/ Example: Walmart corporation made $16.4B in profits in 2011 yet pays its employees minimum wage. The family has $100B, more than bottom 40% of all Americans. Unjust economic policies made this possible, and no one no one no one should be okay with it. #TaxTheRich

When Soviets Union and Communism was in eclipse during 80s, the capitalism finally shake off the need to compete with Soviets in treating worker kindly. Keep in mind that it is communism to force the US to give up segregation and start the Great Society program.

I’m the same. I was a child in Australia. I the 1960s/70s Australia had pretty good income equality. I remember what that was like. Not perfect, but better.

The philosophizing and groundwork was laid in the mid-70's, aided by corruption and organized crime in the traditional Democratic bastion of unions. It allowed corporations to start a narrative that undercut union power.

concentrated wealth is concentrated power, and concentrated power is a threat to true freedom for the people, it must be done away with.
