1/ The new congressional session begins today. Re-electing Pelosi will say to the country that it’s pretty much going to be business as usual, which to me is very sad. What a lost opportunity to burst out of the gate post-Trump with something new.

2/ New member progressive @MondaireJones on his plan to back Pelosi: “The question is: “Are you going to empower the Republican leader, Kevin McCarthy, to which the answer is no.” Wow, they get to them fast don’t they? A line straight from a PR ad campaign if there ever was one.

That's not how it works and he knows it. This is why people get livid. Don't lie to us. That's the minimum ask we can make. Guess that's too much.

I wouldn't be surprised if the party leadership also added a dose of "You better support Pelosi, or..."

It is, though, exactly what will happen. People who know the least about how anything works have the biggest platforms.

See @MondaireJones is exposing himself early so everyone knows. He's one of those who talks the talk but walks the center progressives that are worthless and we should primary in 2022.

Didn't anyone explain to him how the vote for Speaker works? They need an absolute majority, not just a plurality. Unless Dems voted specifically for McCarthy, McCarthy would never be Speaker.

This is going to be interesting. You already treat Republicans as if they are immutable forces of nature. Now it looks like you’ll be doing that for mainstream Democrats as well. You’ll be focusing your fire on your closest allies instead.

The caucus settled on Pelosi in November. Obviously arrangements were made to get necessary votes from all corners of the D caucus. To renege on the deal now would damage progressives' relationships with the rest of the caucus & make them less effective. npr.org/2020/11/18/935718252…

What a propagandized coward. Sounds like it’s already time for someone to primary @MondaireJones.
