Republicans created a malignant populism because the Democrats refused to create an enlightened one.

I'm loving the enlightened and radicalized Marianne.

Populism is always based on the concept that "others" are the cause of all problems in a society. That's why it worked for Hitler, Trump, LePen, etc. There's no such thing as enlightened populism. Populism needs an enemy to vilify.

I dunno, there's was the Bernie-led populism in 2016, didn't win. Populism can be dangerous. Please cite a modern "enlightened populist movement" that led to good results for Americans. FDR? I'll take a party that gets things done. Center and Left together is the recipe.

Democrats viciously colluded with their money masters to sabotage the enlightened populism of workers across races joining together against them

"Refused" is a strong word. I suggest Ds are hemmed in by multiple, difficult & complex interactions between capitalistic impulses & humanitarian ones. It's a messy thing, as is democracy itself. Many voters, overwhelmed by this changing scene reacted w fear & fell for a con.

No, Republicans harnessed the undercurrent of existing populism and kicked out anyone who believes differently, concentrating the like-minded. Democrats, as a coalition of groups, are challenged to coalesce the vast variety of energies into a single vision. An unwieldy job.
