Anger is like the white sugar of political activism; it gives you an adrenaline high but then you’ll crash. What we need is nourishment for the long-haul: laughter at the ridiculousness of it all and love for the possibilities that could be.

Gritty determination is more important and ultimately more productive than anger. I used to point out that almost half of "integrity" is "grit."

I like the idea but sometimes it feels like you're acting like a gatekeeper, Marianne. The anger is a manifestation of the pain of people who don't have time to wait for the gates to open, slowly, on their own.

I see your written words here but your tweets do not always seem to align. Maybe check in with your self before hitting the little feather?? 🤷🏻‍♀️

You are failing Marianne. You must call @jimmy_dore out for the violence. Old angry white man cursing out and threatening a group of women of color. Seriously? You’re not calling this out?!! Please see the violence here: bit.ly/DoreAttacksAOC

Well, no. Do not so quickly dismiss or whitewash anger, because anger is fuel for change. Anger is the engine of social justice. Nobody ever won their civi rights by politely asking their oppressors to give it to them. Gandhi didn’t dismiss the fuel of anger, he harnessed it.

But, Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. How does one become nourished and relax enough to laugh at this when they can’t put food on the table or a roof over their family’s heads? Sure, we all want to ascend to the next level, but it’s not really possible until basic needs are met.
