When a caterpillar disintegrates it turns into what’s called an “imaginal soup.” “Imaginal cells” then form what is ultimately a butterfly. That’s where we are in many ways right now, an entire way of being disintegrating while we imagine where we want to go next.

Victorian psychical researcher Frederick Myers was the one who first adapted the term imago/imaginal in the insect to the esoteric category of the "imaginal" (later used by Henri Corbin) as a particular transformative/transcendent capacity of human consciousness.
