Without radical action on climate change, within 7- 10 yrs we could have whole swaths of continents uninhabitable due to heat, major economic collapse & food shortages + 100s of millions of environmental refugees. Covid should cure us of the “Oh that could never happen” syndrome.

Is it possible for someone like me to have fun living in this country? 🤷🏽‍♂️ The Republicans are so stupid w/their science denial that I hate them. I HATE the half measures of “centrism” & the progressives are too cool to let me in 😐 I fucking hate it here 😐

Hi Marianne, I'm a climate scientist. Human-caused climate change IS a real and critical threat, but those impacts are NOT expected within 7-10 yrs. It's decades not years But yes we do need to act NOW to avoid severe long-term impacts. Each year's delay locks in worse impacts

Even the climate community won't talk about the impact of our diets and animal agriculture, which is itself a form of climate denial even within activist communities. I am very worried.

It should, but it won't. We've got almost 350k deaths from Covid in the US, but we still have a significant portion of the population that believes that it's a hoax and/or won't put the lives of others over their personal liberties.

Amen. And having been on the front lines of a refugee crisis (Lesvos) and the #ClimateCrisis (Sandy, Maria, Dorian), I can tell you that we are absolutely not currently prepared as a nation or a global community to manage what is coming. It is absolutely going to happen.
