The worst tragedy isn’t just their denying the $2k one-time stimulus: even that was little more than the thinnest lifeline for so many at this point. In a sane country it would be $2k every month retroactively to when the pandemic started, plus $2k/mo. going forward until it ends

If only you were in charge and could get it done
Whatever France is getting we should double it

This is exactly what Australia did. I’m an American living in Melbourne and feel for you back home many of you all have no idea that life outside your fish bowl can be SO much better.

No. In a truly sane country it wouldn't need to be retroactive because we would've led with something reasonable instead of a single $1200 check and UI benefits that expire just as the shit really starts to hit the fan

Beyond that a little... keep the $2k payments for two years after from the time the pandemic ends. To gain a long term payment, we probably have to go in to negotiations at making the payments permanent. Enter negotiations with that goal every time. Ruthlessly.

"In a sane nation" That says everything! And given the fact that, americans have wilfully allowed this 40 yr. destructive economic policy to reshape the once greatest nation/society into something virtually unrecognizable, suggests a nation with early onset dementia.
