The United States is the only advanced democracy not to give direct and substantial cash relief to its citizens during this pandemic. Perhaps just let that sink in.😞

We do NOT live in a democracy. If you doubt the validity of this, please feel free to look at the last 30 odd years. How many policies that were popular with the people have actually been enacted in that period of time?

In Israel there's an advertisement on the radio that small business owners get NIS5000 per month for each employee they continued to employ during the pandemic. Where is the relief for small business owners in the US?

What sinks in with me Marianne is that it does not have to "be this way." We have the ability to print as much money as we "need" and freely pass it out. It's EGO that's at fault. I've never felt a need to "laud over others" that which I have & they don't. I want WIN WIN for all.

I don't think you can put "United States" and "Democracy" in the same sentence anymore

History has taught that poverty and inequality are a breeding ground for populism, nationalism, racism, fascism and revolution Healing is only possible by closing the gap between poor and rich Merry Christmas

Maybe it’s not really an “advanced democracy” then. I mean how democratic is it that +70% of Americans support #MedicareForAll and we can’t even get a floor vote in Congress? I’m not sure what to call the US beyond an oligarchy because it sure as fuck ain’t a democracy

That’s because we don’t live in a democracy. We live in an oligarchy and it makes perfect sense for an oligarchy. The more miserable and desperate people become the greater the cheap labor pool is for corporations and the military. Perhaps just let that sink in.
