According to Dec of Ind, govt “derives its just power from the consent of the governed.” Not now. The money is so loud in DC that leaders derive their power from consent of the donor class - corporations & rich individuals who w/ their $ have the power to make & break politicians

It's like an exclusive fraternity is running the country. And everything is done for the benefit of its members.
Also according to DoI, our rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness are UNALIENABLE. Yet we don't have M4A to protect our lives, we don't have free college to help us pursue what makes us happy, etc...

Well, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it if becomes destructive of these ends—of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I don’t think our government can be altered or abolished by velvet revolution/Arab Spring tactics; it’s impervious to pop pressure.

Yes the Social Contract has been broken. Now what are we going to do about it?

It has been this way in DC for a LONG time. And the American people have been playing along, thinking they have to become the “rich and powerful” so they can do onto others the very thing they lament. I’m glad people are waking up to this, but let’s not kid ourselves.

Well when they wrote that, they were pretty much only talking about land owning white men, so it’s pretty similar still

I guess when the people who drew up that document were excluding over half their population from voting, the whole thing has been rotten since the beginning. Time for a better system.
