Why is Marianne Williamson trending? She is a two bit, grifter whose books are an atrocity. She apparently met Jesus at a party. Not an analogy, she says she shook his hand. I read her books so you don’t have to!

Ugh. I remember.
I read Marianne Williamson’s book on depression. It is horrific. Her premise is you are just super sad and maybe you need to lose everything to get to the place where you can accept God’s love. Also, she claims psychiatrists referred people to her.

You get your information from a tweet like that, do you? You didn't read the book - you read a lying tweet, and you're buying it. But you're the sophisticated professional here, right?

“Sickness is an illusion/does not actually exist.” “How many public personalities on antidepressants have to hang themselves before the FDA does something, Big Pharma cops to what it knows, and the average person stops falling for this?” Isn’t that you? google.ca/amp/s/time.com/564…

That line is misleading taken out of context. I teach metaphysical subjects: Buddha said the world is an illusion. "Time and space are illusions of consciousness." - Einstein. It doesn't mean you're not sick and you don't go to the doctor! I have never said anything like that.

Marianne, just stop talking about health because you have no health education and you don’t have a foot to stand on. You have been grotesquely wrong in the past and you have likely harmed people. Please, just stop.

No, you stop. Stop maligning my career. I have not “been grotesquely wrong” & I have not “likely harmed people.” I’ve NEVER given medical advice but I sat at more deathbeds & held more AIDS patients’ hands as they lay dying than you can imagine. You are the one who should stop.

That line certainly is misleading. I’m glad to hear that it sounds like you’re retracting it. I hope that you can appreciate just how stigmatizing it can be for people to hear sentiments that undermine the reality/severity of psychiatric diagnoses and the benefits of treatment.

I retract nothing. I hope YOU can understand how stigmatizing it is for people who write about serious spiritual subjects & have had serious careers to be called wacko nutcases by those who know nothing about their work & pre-judge it harshly.

White people stealing the thousands of years of ancient Asian and Eastern wisdom/spirituality and become famous and wealthy and call themselves originals. That is a part of racism, oppression, colonialism and cultural exploration. It infuriating! nymag.com/intelligencer/2019…

Marianne, @marwilliamson Unblock @DrJenGunter and include her in this discussion. For those of us who have clinical depression and anxiety, your cavalier attitudes about mental health are disturbing and dangerous.

Like I've said before, people are just simply not ready to hear the Truth.

Care to source that Einstein quote you've used ad nauseum?
