1/The pandemic might end within a few months; hopefully it will. But the results of how horribly our government responded to it will be with us for years to come in the form of broken lives and human suffering that will completely overwhelm the capacity of our systems to address.

2/Everything that was already a problem, from a broken education system to homelessness to poverty, will be exponentially made worse on the other side of this, as we won't be able to absorb all the people who fell through the cracks during the pandemic.

We've known for about a century that those who are impacted by these financial crises never make up the ground they've lost. Sure, things may get better over time, but they'll never be made whole & never be restored. Each crisis is simply used as a wealth transfer to the rich.
