MSM is like a strange drug that keeps us more upset than we need to be about some things, but not as upset as we should be about other things. It curates the news in such a way to keep people always on edge about what’s happening but never empowered enough to do anything about it

I think the term MSM is unhelpful and caters to a certain segment of the population that believes everything bad is part of a bigger plan.

1 On the same token, there are millions of good hearted & earnest people who coordinate efforts to improve the human condition. In journalism, human interest stories exist but are not as alluring as other news stories. Generally $ corrupts everything.

But if you ask someone who knows about sociology, they will tell you that humans crave certainty and this is a very uncertain time. There's always an easy heuristic to convince ourselves that any random occurrence really is random. It's much easier to invent a simple explanation.
