An issue I had changed my mind on over the years, is that I now think some kind of mandatory military service is very good for a democracy
When I was young issues of war & peace were on everybody’s minds & everybody’s lips. Why? Because there was a draft; people closest to you were next in line. I’m not suggesting we reinstate the draft but I can’t help but notice how numb people have become to such a critical issue

I think we should have one year of mandatory national service between the age of 18 and 26.. The military should be one option out of many.
