When I was young issues of war & peace were on everybody’s minds & everybody’s lips. Why? Because there was a draft; people closest to you were next in line. I’m not suggesting we reinstate the draft but I can’t help but notice how numb people have become to such a critical issue

Yes. Issues of war seem to affect people in the U.S. when it is an immediate danger for them. Our vision is sorely limited.

It is because now is all about war and drugs and millions of people have lost a loved one closest to where they are in line

Return of fair, no excuses draft would cure a lot of ills. And give rich and powerful the privilege of defending their good fortune. A draft adds balance to the military. And creates public interest. A nation that does not share the hardships of war is not worth defending.

The wealth gap has only increase the difference between those who decide to go to war and those who actually are on the front lines.

I think you're right ... perhaps not a draft ... but some kind of mandatory National Service might be good for people ... so they get a chance to think about something else besides ... "themselves."

The kids live in a bubble. I grew up in a bubble in the 80’s. My bubble breaking was both the worse and best thing that has ever happened to me! The youth need to wake up and know that reigns will be handed over and they needed to know the truth to lead toward a better tomorrow🙏

In 3 weeks my husband, our roommate with a baby and I are gonna be facing eviction. This is the scariest thing in my life. Please consider donating or even retweeting. It helps so much 💔 gofundme.com/f/help-with-ren…

How old were you and where were you during the draft?

I believe in #UniversalHealthCare and #UniversalBasicIncome. I like the idea of #UniversalService. A year of public service (including but not limited to a military option) could broaden one’s understanding of community and increase empathy for those in civil service. #WalkAMile
