When I was young issues of war & peace were on everybody’s minds & everybody’s lips. Why? Because there was a draft; people closest to you were next in line. I’m not suggesting we reinstate the draft but I can’t help but notice how numb people have become to such a critical issue

Reinstating a bonespur-proof draft would go a long way toward discouraging that intimately self-descructive behavior we call "war".

I see that the complacency that has evolved in the almost 20 years since we went to war with Iraq is not obvious to many people. Since 2003 I have never thought that there was any more important news story than recognizing the sacrifices of American soldiers.

Who needs a draft when you can blow them up with drones

Foreign policy has just become a game with no humanity even considered.

I was having that exact conversation with my Vietnam brother. We have trump brother in laws who protested draft. Once draft canceled, these chickenhawks agreed with every war since, tell their kids it’s for suckers and Vote Trump. Draft may get people to think.

The mindset of Americans is that if it's happening over there and they don't have to think about it doesn't exist

we don’t need a draft anymore bc neoliberal austerity has already done the work of creating a permanent underclass of people desperate enough to join the military in exchange for the promise of basic services

Jaded is the word. We're getting used to death, and war. War should be obsolete, but when your main GDP is war...you keep conflicts brewing. Fuck the fascist American government! Americans will be going rouge, and fighting back! We're so done, being tied to the whipping post!
