When I was young issues of war & peace were on everybody’s minds & everybody’s lips. Why? Because there was a draft; people closest to you were next in line. I’m not suggesting we reinstate the draft but I can’t help but notice how numb people have become to such a critical issue

reinstate the draft with no way for the well off to get an exception. This would change the world overnight.

A draft would draw attention to the bad use of force, and should be considered.

Musicians at the time were equipped to criticize the system and mobilize young people. The culture today is competing over fractions of a penny on Spotify.

I am taken aback by your words. Our country needs a draft (send babies to war) to get citizens to wake up? I’m sure this was not your intent but your words are powerful

only if the children of wealthy and connected people will not be excluded from the draft for any reason...only if they have to be drafted also...otherwise its just sending our young people of low station to defend the wealthy

So deeply true Marianne. I am 72, lost friends in Vietnam, in the streets with my wonderful "comrades" in protest. I do believe the draft inspired us so much, but I still see "old hippies" working for peace all the time, not so much young folks, even those who care.

Yes, numb. It's why ppl suggest reintroducing the draft / compulsory service, & for good reasons: We now exploit the poor, like ancient Rome did, to get soldiers. If everyone's son or daughter were on the line, we would NOT have so many wars. Vietnam helped showed that and more.

I recall the well-to-do students at my college during the Iraq War with a "Freedom isn't Free" booth.

If we draft the kids of the stockholders/stakeholders war will be over tomorrow! Of course they make a lot of profits off of war, make all the rules and do all the talking, so 🤞
